Blog 33: December 19, 2020

Unlike the other preliminary tasks, I was instructed that it's optional to do a         double-page spread. However, I decided to still create one just to gain more experience so my goals for this task are going to be listed below. And by the next blog post, I'll have my double-page spread.
  •  My first goal is to grasp a better understanding of how to structure my double-page spread because I'm still unsure how many photos I would want to include, what size they should be, and how much content I should write.
  • I also want to figure out what fonts will look best with different sorts of photos which I will get to understand from my drafting process of creating it.
  • Furthermore, I want to try to create different sections of information my spread rather than just a whole page of paragraphs, since I think that would bore the viewer.
  • Lastly, I plan on creating a fun stylish sort of ambiance for my spread so I can figure out what color template I enjoy using the most. Which will come in handy for my final magazine spread.

Blog 32: December 18, 2020

Even though I will not be creating my sample double-page spread now I will do an analysis of one, which helps me understand how I can shape mine later on.

Blog 31: December 18, 2020

Now that I completed my sample table of contents here is my take away from it:

    • In terms of aesthetics, I really love how it turned out, the photos I choose meshed together well with the template. Although, one of the photos I used was an old one I took and not one from my recent photoshoot.
    •  The colors were a deep blue and neon-colored blue which oddly works really well with my cover page, and I think if you were to separate them you would be able to tell they are from the same edition.
    • Furthermore, I believe I have a better understanding of how to use the online platform, Canva since I figured out how to add different designs to the page, create and add different texts, and how to rotate pictures and the overall layout.
    • I also enjoyed creating the Subheadings and believe that they are ideas I can use in my final magazines in the future.
    • The only objective I didn't reach was finding an edition platform to use to edit my photos because I didn't really see the need to edit the photos I took. But I definitely will try to find one soon.
    • Lastly, I have found out that I will not be creating a sample double-page spread right now because I need to learn more about writing articles, which will come in handy when I create my content for my final magazine.

Blog 29: December 11, 2020

So, unlike for my sample cover page, I went out to have a quick photoshoot of my cousin, and the location was at a nice art museum where there are set up rooms for taking nice photos.  I personally really liked how the photos turned out and honestly it didn't take a long time to take them, but that could because I was trying to be as quick as possible to avoid getting too close to people. Because if you haven't noticed there still is a pandemic going on right now.  Anyways, the photos are down below and I believe I will only be using two of them in my table of contents.

Blog 28: December 10, 2020

Now that I have done my sample cover page I have to create my table of contetnts, so now its time for me to do an analysis on fashion magazienes table of contents. I do this cause it gives me a clearer idea of what I should include in my magaziene, and I defientely found it helpful for creating my sample cover page.  I did the analysis on a table of contents from Vouge, which is an iconic fashion and lifestuyle magazine.

Blog 27: December 4, 2020

Hey everyone, now that I have completed the first component of my preliminary task which was the cover page of my sample magazine, it can be found in Blog #25 if you want to review it. Thankfully, despite my chronic procrastination I have stuck to my preliminary task plan, so the next step is to set my goals for my sample table of contents.
  • Firstly, I hope to continue the aesthetic I created for my sample cover page, and I want to make sure the colors I choose aren't exactly the same but rather cohesive.
  • Furthermore, I think I want to take a different sort of photos for it. For example, my cover page has my model dressed in a neutral outfit surrounded by a bright background, so I may do a different style of clothing for the table of contents or even just have photos of the clothes. Either way, I do not want the photo to closely resemble the photo on my cover page.
  • I want to also have a sense of professionalism in my table of contents, which I think I can do if I change the font I used previously and take sleeker photos.
  • I plan to also use online software for editing that will allow me to better adjust the photos I take rather than just resorting to using a filter.
After I create the practice table of contents I will evaluate the process and my results in the next blog post. See you then!

Blog 26: December 3, 2020

Here is my take away from the final result of my practice cover page:

  • I've learned that I found the whole process of creating a magazine really enjoyable, which I honestly wasn't expecting. I had fun picking out my color palette and adding different texts to the cover especially. Although I didn't use a pastel palette which I expected to use since it didn't fit right with the dark-toned photo I choose to use.
  • I found myself struggling to find a high-quality photo to use, even the one I choose wasn't the type of picture I desired to have since I think it didn't look very professional. Which for me is one of my biggest goals.
  • This brings me to my next realization although I really liked for my practice cover came along I really didn't like how unprofessional it looked like I wanted it to look way sleeker whilst being fun. But so far I only achieved making a nice and asthetic cover page.
  • Furthermore, I think that this task has made me realize how quickly a page fills up I felt as though I didn't have enough room to put subtexts which is an important factor in a magazine, hopefully, I will be able to manufacture Canva better so I will be able to change the template more so I have more room.
  • I also think now that I want to find a digital editing platform that allows me to better edit photos.
  • Now that I have completed this preliminary task I am excited to learn more about editing and putting together magazine pages, and taking better photos.
