Blog #38: Production Calendar

Hello, since I have competed my practice magazine it is now time to focus on creating my final magazine. In order to stay organized and on track to finishing it I have decided to make a production calendar. This calendar will signify what I should be doing day-by-day and will guide me to completion.

Blog #37: Production Planning

Now that I have practiced writing a feature lead I feel prepared to create a double page spread in the future. So, as I conclude my practice magazine I've determined that my next step in the future will be deciding  what content I will specifically including in my magazine, which I will use my previous survey to determine. Since it indicates what my audience would be the most interested in reading. Furthermore, I will begin mapping out what sort of aesthetic and photos I will want in my magazine. So, the next blogs will be about my ideas for my final magazine. That's all for today, see you next time.

Blog #36: January 15, 2021

Hello everyone,  today I will be doing my first practice of writing a                 magazine feature.  This is so when I create both my practice and final double page spread I will be able to actually write content relating to the magazine. I will be writing a narrative feature from information that my teacher has provided me with, you can find the original information in this  link:  https://global.oup.com/us/companion.websites/9780199846412/student/chapter17/exercise/ex5/

The Original Text:

"Someone called 18 people in the city last night. The caller identified himself as the president of Rutherford Ford, Inc., 2780 Doss Boulevard. He told each of the people that they had just won a new car from his dealership. Interviewed by reporters today, most of the people who received the calls said that at first they just couldn't believe it. And they were right. They couldn't. The person who called was a prankster, and Allen Rutherford, president of the dealership, says he has no idea who placed he calls, and that he's spending all his time today trying to explain the situation to those 18 people. "Someone apparently has a sick idea of humor," Rutherford said. After convincing people they had won a new car, the caller asked them to drop by the dealership this morning to pick it up. All 18 were there when the dealership opened its doors at 9 a.m. "I told them we never offered to give away a car," Rutherford said. "One woman told me she couldn't believe she'd won, and then she told me she couldn't believe it when I told her she hadn't. Two other women began to cry, and a man is threatening to sue me."

My Practice Feature Lead, which I decided to make a Narrative Lead:

Allen Rutherford was in for a shock when a prankster who “…has a sick idea of humor," decided to call 18 people in the city last night. This unidentified caller decided to introduce himself to 18 people as the president of Rutherford Ford, Inc., 2780 Doss Boulevard and told them that they all won a free car from “his” dealership. He then convinced each individual that they truly won a car and asked them to arrive at the dealership by 9 a.m.

Blog #35: January 7, 2021

I went out to have a quick photoshoot with my cousin again, and the location was a mall.  I personally really liked how the photos turned out and consider this a really good practice. Anyways, the photos are down below and I believe I will only be using two of them in my double page spread. But that may change depending how I construct it with the text.

Blog 34: January 5, 2020

Hey everyone, I know that I said in my last post that my double page spread would be ready but I've have some challenges with creating it. So I'm going to tell you about my progress. So far, I have taken the photos that I plan on including in my preliminary double page spread, which I will put post soon and in that post I will talk about how the photoshoot went. Other than that I don't have much in terms of content. One of the reasons being that I have realized that I do not know how to write a feature story yet. Which means I have to learn how to so before deciding what content I will be writing, I have decided to practice writing a feature story. So, my next post will be an example of one of my practice attempts of making a feature story. Lastly, I have found that Canva, the website that I have used to create my preliminary cover page and table of contents, does not have an option to create two side by side pages so I am not sure if I can use it to create this double page spread.  Anyways, I'll update you on my progress my next posts will be about my practice feature stories and my pictures for the double page spread. See you next time!
