  • Transcripts: "Throughout this project, I was able to incorporate using an actual camera rather than my iPhone's camera. Thankfully, my older sister allowed me to use her Canon PowerShot Digital Camera which allowed me to integrate high-resolution photos into my magazine. As you can see in my photos, I was able to capture the true beauty of my model. Furthermore, I utilized online editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and an app called Photoshop fix. Which allowed me to step up my editing and highlight the details of my photos. I also used a website called Canva which allowed me to completely assemble my magazine, and it was through the site that I put together my texts and pictures."

  • Transcripts: "Throughout this project, my production skills have evolved in multiple ways. From my knowledge of editing to understanding conventions I have improved my expertise thoroughly. Before starting this project, I did not even know what conventions meant and now not only do I know what they are but how to produce and follow them. Furthermore, it was this production that taught me the advantages of editing tools and the more I used them the better my editing skills got. I went from barely knowing how to change color saturations to color correcting the color of my model’s shoes. I also improved my creative writing skills, I learned how to write a feature article which is very different from writing an essay, which I would say was the most difficult for me to learn."

        2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

  • Transcripts: "-My product engages my audience by showcasing an eye-catching aesthetic that they would find desirable to read about. My magazine has a very modern look to it that embraces the bold photos of my model which drawls attention to it. While making my product I kept in mind my survey results that told me more about what my audience would find interesting. The data I collected told me that my audience are female teenagers who find fun and trendy fashion the most relatable, so I decided to make that the focus of my magazine. Furthermore, I would expect my product to be distributed as a real media text digitally since that is one way, I would be able to spread it to multiple platforms for free. That and I created my magazine digitally so it would be the easiest to sell it that way. Or I could imagine my magazine being printed in my high school’s newspapers and articles since my audience are all attending high school."

Blog #56: Creative Critical Reflection Question #1

  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent groups or issues?
Click the link down below for my response:
  • Transcripts: " My final product used the conventions by producing an original fashion magazine that has a uniqueness to it while including the most essential conventions. The modern aesthetic of my magazine stands out in comparison to most typical fashion magazines. Which I think is because of how I balanced my photo placements with the swirled backgrounds as well as the shapes and fonts I used. Not only did I make a unique cover, but I also included conventions that are found in all magazines such as the taglines, a masthead, and a barcode. Another example would be how I used page numbers, headings, and subheadings in my table of contents. Furthermore, the look of my photos is very minimalistic and aesthetic which is why I made sure not to include too much text that would take away from it and it complimented the pastel color scheme I used. The content of my magazine represents the social group of my demographic which are young women from the ages of 16 to 18, I gathered this from my survey by creating content based on what they would find the most interesting. For example, my survey told me that my audience would be more which interested in a female model rather than male, and a fun easy-going magazine and so I did just that. I also represented what my social group desired by making my feature article about trending clothing looks and by taking photos of my model in such clothing. "
